Talk about Steiner Tractors on our new Turf Equipment Forum!

In 1975, in rural Ohio, the Steiner family developed the first Steiner lawn mower. The Steiner's family and friends enjoyed this prototype so much, that they produced seven or eight additional units. Over the years the circle of buyers grew and the family broadened the Steiner product offering to include attachments to the mower. Eventually, the product demand increased and dealers were signed on to sell the products to a larger customer base.

In 1988, the Steiner family sold its company to Ransomes, a U.K.-based company. Under Ransome's ownership the Steiner brand grew five hundred percent, introduced many new mower, tractor and attachment models, as well as grew its dealer base to reach an international market. In 1992, Ransomes vacated its two old buildings and moved to a new and larger facility in Dalton, Ohio.

In 1998, Textron, an $11 billion multi-industry company, acquired the Ransomes America Corp., including the Steiner, Cushman, Ryan, Bob-Cat, and Brouwer brands. The Steiner brand sales have seen tremendous growth over the years and product offerings continue to expand and improve. In 2003, Steiner became part of Jacobsen Commercial Grounds Care and moved to the Jacobsen Commercial Grounds Care state-of-the-art facility in Johnson Creek, Wis. Steiner by Jacobsen brand offers multiple mower, tractor, utility vehicle models and more than 20 QuickHitch™ attachments, including mulchers, aerators, snowblowers and blades, a 48 in. wide bucket front loader, as well as many others. An extensive distribution network allows sales of the Steiner brand worldwide.
